We just wrapped up our 11th summer, and here's what some parents had to say...

You and your staff are FANTASTIC!!!!!!  I just can't thank you enough for ALL that you do! - Nora V.

Can’t say thanks enough for the season. The kids looked forward to camp every day. The food program was a big hit with both Dominic and Ethan. -  Dan B.

Thanks for another great experience for our girls this summer. We'll be coming back again next year!  - Rob B.

Joe and Dave...Riley too!...LOVED Camp. Dave loved the lunches! Your counselors make all the difference! They really connect with the kids and have fun with them. - Susan F.

Thank you for every thing you did for Garrett this year, please pass along my heartfelt thanks to all the camp volunteers and counselors. - Melinda P.

The hot lunches were fantastic! Keira had nothing but good things to say about it and it was wonderful for me too. Not to worry about purchasing lunch preparations and having to make the lunch daily was a great break! She especially enjoyed the Birthday day! Thank you for a good time! - Melissa N.

Thanks to you and the staff the kids had a blast and were exhausted each day!  - Sherry M.

The O'Brien boys are having an awesome time at camp. I asked Brady what was his favorite part of camp today and he said EVERYTHING! - Erica O.

This year The Day Camp at Crystal Pond has expanded to a six week program with the addition of Theme Weeks.  Theme Weeks take place from July 1st to July 12th.  Campers can choose between Drama Camp, Aquatics Camp, and Sports Camp!

Drama Camp is open to all campers entering grades 3 through 8.  Catherine, our Drama Director, will lead this group in improv activities, costumes, and producing their own play! Drama Camp is perfect for those enthusiastic kids who love to perform!  Swim time will be built into the schedule on hot days.

Aquatics Camp is open to all campers entering PK through 8th grade.  Campers in PK/K will attend for a half day (8:30 - 12:30).  Katie, our Waterfront Director, and her excellent waterfront staff will lead this group in having fun at the lake!  This includes swimming, swimming, and swimming!  Of course, sunbathing, playing in the sand, water games, boating and fishing are also included!

Sports Camp is open to all campers entering grades 5 through 8.  Maryanna, our Sports Director, will lead this group on the sports field all day - from team games, competitions, individual events, and more - this is for kids who love to play sports!  Swim time will be built into the schedule on hot days.

Did You Know?

Did you know that The Day Camp of Crystal Pond runs under the Camp Nahaco Commission?  Camp Nahaco, a former Boy Scout property, was bought years ago by the towns of Woodstock and Eastford.  The commission, made up of equal members of Eastford and Woodstock residents, governs the property.  Although both towns technically own the property, no public funding from either town is given to the camp, the commission, the property, or the day camp.

So what does that mean?  For The Day Camp at Crystal Pond, it means that we operate on what we call a "Zero Budget."  Which basically means that everything we do is paid for by camper tuition.  Yes - everything!  This includes supplies for every area (arts and crafts, sports, drama, waterfront, and boating), pay for all of the counselors and other staff, supplies for special events such as hot dog days, Pirates' Day, Birthday Bash, bills for electric, garbage, etc. and so much more - none of that is funded from anywhere other than our parents and the tuition they pay.

This past year we also had some help from generous community donars, groups like - New Alliance/First Niagara Bank, Industrial Pallet, Eastford Building Supply, Whitcraft, the Eastford School PTO, Eastford Republican Town Committee, Eastford Democratic Town Committee, and Citizen's Bank.  Many of these organizations specifically donate towards our Campership Fund, which helps familes facing financial difficulties send their kids to camp.

When I compare our day camp to other area day camps and the tuition they charge, we are the lowest around - and we provide transportation!  It always amazes me that we can remain this competitive when we don't receive any funding - and it's thanks to our amazing parents and campers who return to us every year.  Your support keeps us going - THANK YOU!

Please consider calling your town selectman and encouraging them to begin funding the camp property.  We would like to keep the property going and be able to continue to use it for years to come.  However, without some serious financial backing - and soon - many buildings and areas won't be usable.  There are millions of ways to use the camp - with the help of the citizens of Eastford and Woodstock, so many improvements could be made and enjoyed by everyone.

Here's What Parents Say About The Day Camp at Crystal Pond...

For the first time, my husband and I were able to attend the day camp open house. It was a long ride for us, but so worth it. What a fabulous camp! We didn't know what to expect, but were awestruck by the magnificent lake, fun activities, and adorable counselors. All I could think of was what wonderful childhood memories these kids are going to have. If you decide to offer camp for the whole summer, please count Basia in. She loves your camp and now we know why!

We very much appreciate what you are doing for these kids.

Many thanks,

Sue & Bradd Martone

My son Lucas really enjoyed his camp experience as I did my time today. I was impressed with all the counselors and Lucas really seemed to like Sawyer, Greg & Brady. Please pass on my appreciation to them! Thanks, Lisa

Just wanted to thank you again for accommodating Josh and getting him into the third week at camp. This year was his first coming to your camp and he enjoyed it so much! He is talking about wanting to go 4 weeks next year and being a counselor when he is old enough. He talked so much about his counselors and I thought I would mention some of their names to you. He talked so much about Tim, Matt, and Joey. He thought of all three of them as friends and said he will miss them. Thanks again for the wonderful camping experience you provide. I'm so happy that Josh enjoyed the two weeks so very much.

Lynn Resnick

I know Tim was an employee this year. However, as a parent I just wanted to thank you for making his experience at camp so wonderful! You would never hear this from a 15-year-old boy, but he had to tell me all about each day on the ride home. He loved his campers (said they were cooler than any other group) and was truly touched with the little cards they made for him - each destined for his scrapbook when Mom gets time. And he really enjoyed the staff and talked about them all. (I think he loved being the purple feather monkey, too!) By far, the highlight was capsizing the canoe in the middle of the lake!

And thank you again.

Welcome to the new website!

Hello Day Camp Parents!

Welcome to our new website!  This is a big expirement, so please feel free to send comments about what you like, what's missing, etc.

2011 Registration forms will be available at Woodstock Elementary, Woodstock Middle, and Eastford School beginning the week of February 14th.  Schools will send home the forms with children in grades K-6.  If you don't see one in your son or daughter's backpack, please contact me!  I will hopefully be able to make them available online soon.

This year's deadline for all registration forms, enrollment forms, and fees is Friday, June 10th.  Any form postmarked after that date will result in a $25 late fee being assessed to your account.  Please note, this includes all forms included in the enrollment mailing!  Please be sure to use the checksheet so you're sure to send everthing.  Enrollment forms will be sent or emailed to you once registration is confirmed.  Again, we are hoping to make these forms available online as well.

We are currently in the process of putting our staff together.  As usual, around 85% of our staff returns each summer and that looks to be the case once again.  As I look out my classroom window at all of this snow, I for one cannot wait for summer to arrive!
